For this section you will need cartridge paper, your piece of indigo, one or two inks, an assortment of brushes, pencil crayons and various mark making tools. I used Quink (which was quite old and turned into a sepia colour) and Wallace Seymour's Indigo ink but you can use any free flowing ink you have to hand.

I also brought in Wallace Seymour's cobalt turquoise deep lustre and the porphryry violet light chunks as subtle shifts of colour.

I suggest that you also keep to this limited colour palette of the blacks and blues with hints of the turquoise (which will come out of the Quink if you are using it). This analogous palette will help your work to look coherent and stop you getting too distracted with colour choices.
